In a phrase, our mission is “Celebrating and Elevating Our County.”

More specifically, Prince George’s Path to Greatness has as its mission to support social service charities of Prince George’s County while inspiring a heightened image of the county that serves to benefit all residents and the entire region.

Path to Greatness is a 501(c)3, non-profit, charitable organization that raises funds from individuals and businesses within the community to distribute to, strengthen and support non-profit programs throughout Prince George’s.

We’re supporting programs that are committed to addressing:

• Youth Issues
• Education
• Health & Safety

In 2011, Path to Greatness donated $5K each to:

• The Family Crisis Center of Prince George’s County
• The Literacy Council of Prince George’s County
• UCAP Shepherd’s Cove Shelter(providing for the children residing there during the holiday season)

These donations were made possible by the generous individuals and businesses that united in support of the mission of Path to Greatness.

We’re continuing with full focus on building a growing base of philanthropists. Supporters of Path to Greatness show passion for our community, uniting through volunteerism and shared interest in providing financial support for our county’s charitable efforts.

Involving youth in philanthropy is key to our mission. First, we act as role models and lead by example.  Secondly, we’re developing a Path to Greatness Youth Civic Engagement Program that will connect the energy and passion of the county’s youth with non-profits that can utilize their volunteer service to better serve our residents most in need.  This will help our teens satisfy community service hour requirements through a managed program committed to their mentorship and enrichment. A pilot of the program is scheduled to launch in early 2013.  Details of the program, currently being developed, will be posted by late summer 2012.

We’ve found that many non-profits in Prince George’s struggle to get the message out about the work that they do and critical fundraising events.  Realizing this, Path to Greatness seeks to promote the efforts of non-profits by facilitating vital media coverage and local networking.

We as Prince Georgians know that an awareness of our connectedness to the world, combined with our active involvement with improving it will only move our own community farther along the path to greatness. With this in mind, P2G will reach out to the world community by providing 10% of grant support to organizations that provide life sustaining water, food and healthcare to the most impoverished/tragedy afflicted areas of the world. Our next gala event will be held in fall 2012 and will showcase the impressive array of performing talent of our county. Every year, we plan to sponsor a family event that is free to the public.

Our eyes are set on greatness for Prince George’s. With every step on this path we plan to showcase all that is wonderful and amazing about this county while creating more to celebrate. Join our dynamic and growing group of committed citizens and businesses. This promises to be a fruitful and rewarding journey!
